Everglades National Park

Spotted Seatrout
(Cynoscion nebulosus)

Seatrout love jigs with paddle tails or shrimp like bodies - especially if tipped with a piece of shrimp.

Trout are an excellent light tackle and even ultra light species to target. Most of the trout fishing in Everglades National Park and 10,000 Islands is done by drifting over the grass flats near the outer Islands. Popping corks with shrimp, pinfish or white bait work good. I like to throw 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig heads with paddle tails or shrimp like bodies tipped with a piece of shrimp. Trout must be 15 inches in length to 20 inches to be harvested. You are allowed one over 20 inches with a limit of 4 per person. Season is closed November and December. The best trout fishing is from December thru June.

They can also be caught in the river mouths and backcountry bays. Trout fishing provides plenty of action - not only will you catch trout, you will encounter many other species like pompano, bluefish, mackerel, jacks, ladyfish and much more.
